Route of Coffee

Route of Coffee,
Rio de Janeiro Limited Edition

Rio, the “Marvelous City”, has always been a magnet for visitors. It is a unique place, with friendly, lively “Cariocas” enjoying life in a historically diverse and urban landscape nestled between breathtaking rainforest covered mountains and captivating bustling beaches. It is the start of our Route of Coffee.

Visiting during the annual February Carnival will always deliver an unbelievable and memorable experience. But you also have another opportunity in August 2016 when Rio hosts the Olympics.

When you arrive, you will enjoy a safer, cleaner city with better transport links and hotels. The city has been preparing since it was awarded the Games in 2009. In fact the 2014 Soccer World Cup was an early and successful test. So were the Olympic Games 2016.

You can visit places such as the statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar), the Botanical Gardens, the Sambadrome, the iconic Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beaches, the rainforest of Tijuca National Park, the bohemian bars in Santa Teresa neighbourhood and historic coastal forts.

After, if you want a break from the Marvelous City, the Route of Coffee can take you to the cooler climate of Petropolis in the foothills of Serra dos Órgãos National Park. Here you can immerse yourself in Brazil’s imperial past by visiting the Summer Palace of the former Brazilian Emperors and the Palacio Cristal (glasshouse) or go trekking and swimming (if you like your water cold!) in the rainforest.

If you want to see where Cariocas go to play outside Rio, the Route of Coffee will take you to the beach resort of Búzios, with its Mediterranean atmosphere, cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses and an amazing night and daytime life. It is the city of eternal Summer!

The Route of Coffee also has other favourites to offer you: places to relax on the Costa Verde (named after the colour of the Atlantic Rainforest) in the Bay of the Ilha Grande…the charm of Paraty, – a fishing village with a rich cultural and historical tradition…the resorts around Angra dos Reis, with their year round offerings of water sports in calm and placid waters.

Whatever you choose, Approaching Brazil will make your experience unforgettable!
